Against a 9, 10, ace, you’re not defending a made hand, you’re trying to improve a hand that’s usually behind. That’s the whole thing. Same as poker when people marry top pair on a bad flop and act shocked when the stack goes. Discipline is stability. Your gut is usually just fear dressed up nice.
