Hit soft 18?

Every time I get a soft 18 against a dealer's strong card, like 9 or 10, I freeze up a little. Feels weird to risk busting on a hand that looks okay, but I know basic strategy says to hit there. It just goes against my instinct for playing it safe and not messing with a halfway decent hand. I've even seen people double in those spots and it really throws me off.

How does everyone here actually handle those moments? Stick to the book or go with your gut?

What gets me on Online Casinos is not the hand, it's that stupid betting window, you get rushed and start protecting a fake “safe” total just because the timer’s there. Are you freezing on soft 18 in a regular blackjack table or one of those spanish 21 lobbies where the pace is weird as hell?

Soft 18 is the hand that makes crypto casinos feel EXTRA fake to me... Same energy as power blackjack, somehow off.

Here’s the part people keep missing: soft 18 is not some “pretty 18” you protect. It’s A,7. Different animal. Against a 9, 10, ace, you’re not defending a made hand, you’re trying to improve a hand that’s usually behind. That’s the whole thing. Same as poker when people marry top pair on a bad flop and act shocked when the stack goes. Discipline is stability. Your gut is usually just fear dressed up nice. In a long shoe, standing there bleeds. I’ve watched it a hundred times, especially in multi-hand blackjack. Hit it. Stop admiring the number!!!

Spanish 21 pace weird as hell, yeah, but on live dealer soft 18 vs 10 isn't some gut-check thing, it's just a hit for a reason.

Spanish 21 pace is exactly why i avoid it. Same twitchy vibe as roulette autoplay, and dealer rotation somehow makes it worse
