Hit soft 18?

Every time I get a soft 18 against a dealer's strong card, like 9 or 10, I freeze up a little. Feels weird to risk busting on a hand that looks okay, but I know basic strategy says to hit there. It just goes against my instinct for playing it safe and not messing with a halfway decent hand. I've even seen people double in those spots and it really throws me off.

How does everyone here actually handle those moments? Stick to the book or go with your gut?
