Soft 17 double?

I see tables all the time where the dealer hits on soft 17 and honestly, I always wonder if it’s worth doubling down on my own soft 17. I know the “perfect strategy” people always say no, but sometimes it feels like there’s that window, especially against weak dealer cards, where it could make sense. My brain gets stuck between the math and my gut, which might just be hungry.

Sometimes I’ll throw an extra chip out there just for fun, but mostly I get cold feet, imagining I’m handing over money just because I can’t resist pressing buttons. Anyone here play it a little looser with soft 17, or am I the only one trying to spice it up? Has anyone ever tracked this kind of play long term, or is it basically just donation season for the casino when you do it?

Nah, thats not roulette brain, its boredom tax. Soft 17 doubles are usually people trying to make live blackjack feel like poker for one hand. Have you tracked it only against 3-6, or just the memorable pops?
