free bet says stake not returned but payout looks lower than i expected

using a free bet on soccer and noticed the fine print said “stake not returned,” which i get, but when my bet won the payout looked way less than i figured. maybe i’m just not doing the math right. i thought if you win with a free bet, you just don’t get your original stake back but should get the rest of what the odds pay. does anyone else feel like the numbers don’t line up sometimes? do some places handle the payouts differently, like with hidden fees or weird rounding?

if there’s another way to squeeze more value out of these promos i’m open, but this feels a bit off.
