Dealer scan delay?

been playing live dealer games more and noticed sometimes there's like this awkward pause after the dealer scans the cards, especially on blackjack. sometimes it feels instant, but other times you see them waving the card in front of the scanner like it's not reading or something. usually not a big deal but when i'm on a streak or need that last card to hit, it gets kinda annoying.

not saying anything shady is going on, just wondering if anyone else is seeing this and if it actually means anything for the game. patience is my thing but sometimes those pauses make me wonder if it messes with the rhythm or if the dealer is just having tech trouble. want to see if anyone tracks or cares about these delays too, or if i'm overthinking like usual.

One thing people miss, some of that pause is the Peek Rule, not the scanner acting up. I wrote it down for a week, ace and ten upcards took sooo much of the awkward dead air in my notes

Peek rule, sure, but the Betting Window eats time too. I timed one live dealer table at 11 seconds dead air on ace hands, that's just BAD pacing

11 seconds is slots-brain torture, i bailed on a table faster than a bad bonus tease

11 sec is silly yeah but half the crypto tables have janky camera angles too tbh!!!

Yeah, I notice it, and when it keeps happening I just leave the table. In my experience the rooms with that fussy card scan nonsense usually have clunky Table Rules too, same cheap feel as those slow live Poker streams where every hand gets dragged out for no good reason.

Sometimes is doing a loooot of work there. Sounds like plain lag 🙃

Nah, that's scanner lag, not the dealer. Roulette has the same hiccups.

Lowkey I think you’re giving the pause way too much power, man. In blackjack the card was the card before that scanner ever chirped, and if you’re playing Basic Strategy your move usually doesn’t change because the dealer had to wave a 6 twice. I drove nights for years and got weirdly good at spotting “pattern brain” in myself, same thing here imo. The only time I care is if they’re pushing side bets hard, because that’s where people start making dumb emotional clicks.
