Bad beat or bad call?

Sat in a hand last night, playing online at one of the crypto joints I use for sportsbook action, and got rivered so hard I actually checked the hand history three times. I had pocket 9s, got two more on the flop, so pretty set. Guy calls my big bet with only a gutshot. River comes, completes his straight. I know variance is real but I’m starting to think people just get reckless with cheap crypto deposits.

I want to blame it on bad luck, but I’m wondering if that call is just straight up bad and I’m being too harsh. Do you all see plays like this more on crypto sites or is this just normal loose low-stakes nonsense? Genuinely feels like the rhythm of play is different here than on fiat tables.
