Short stack strategy?

Short stacks always throw me off my rhythm. I’ll get comfy sitting on 80 or 90 bigs then catch a bad run and end up at like 18. At that point I feel like most of my tools are out the window - no more floating flops or tricky 3-bets, just waiting for something remotely playable. I know the push/fold charts exist but I always wonder if I’m leaking chips trying to wait for the ‘right’ spot instead of playing more aggressively. Feels like such a stability drop after grinding with a decent stack all night.

Anybody have a system for keeping your nerves steady when you’re short? I notice my discipline gets shaky, kind of like standing on a wet dock. Would love to hear some real experiences, not just math.
