rivered again

Still shaking my head here. Twice in the same session, I had them dominated preflop and then just got killed on the river. Once with pocket queens all-in against someone’s ace jack, and naturally they hit an ace on the last card. Stuff like that rattles my focus even though I know the math and have seen it plenty. When it happens back to back it just burns more.

Trying to stick to my plan and not let it tilt me into bad decisions, but honestly I end up playing tighter for a while after a cooler like that. Not sure if that’s smart or just me being gun-shy. I’m careful about bankroll and I track my hands, but losing to runner-runner outs gets into my head more than I want to admit.

How do you all reset and shake that off during a session instead of letting it creep into your next few hands?

Yeah, tightening up a lap isn't crazy, just don't turn one bad river into folding every late position hand. Variance cuts both ways, sooo it goes

Playing tighter after a couple kick-in-the-teeth rivers is fine, same as flat betting blackjack after H17 starts feeling dumb

Maybe unpopular, but I think “shaking it off” is overrated. I don’t try to feel better in-session. I just ask one dumb question: did I get the money in good, yes or no. If yes, I stop giving the river a funeral. Half the bad Casino & Sportsbook Reviews you read are just people writing breakup letters because variance showed up on time. Same thing at the table. Hand history says you were ahead, fine, next hand. If you start folding spots just because A-J got there once, now the bad beat actually cost you something. That's the part I'd care about.

bad position gets blamed for everything, same as sports betting guys blaming the hook. i had qq cracked twice in one orbit and just missed 2 blinds on purpose after, real real good for my head!!!
