river straight again
Lost to another river straight last night. This keeps happening, and I swear it’s more frequent playing live than online. It gets on my nerves, especially after trying to build up with decent hands and watching people call with almost nothing just to spike a miracle on the river. I try to keep things tight but I’m starting to wonder if that just sets me up for these heartbreakers more often.
I know variance is variance, but is there a point where you tighten up too much and make yourself an obvious target for folks chasing? How do you guys adjust to these constant river suckouts? Is this just standard, or do I need to rethink my whole approach when it feels like the table's full of loose cannons who can’t fold a gutshot to save their life? Would love to hear if anyone has strategies for punishing those draws more, or if I should just accept getting cracked sometimes. Do you change your betting or go for bigger pots earlier, or just ride it out?
