finally made a final table again

so i hit a final table after like, what, three months of nothing but bubble busting and way too many coinflips. felt like i was always the one getting drawn out on, but last night just kept going my way. honestly, i spent most of the tournament folding trash and playing tighter than i ever do at slots. not sure if that’s actually fun, but it worked. ended up fifth place, which pays but doesn’t really change anything for me.

does anyone else feel poker is more luck in the short run than something like roulette or slots? or am i just convincing myself it’s variance and not terrible plays?

Yeah short run poker feels lucky as hell, way more than Blackjack to me, because at least in blackjack I know why I got smoked lol. In tournaments you can play neat for 3 hours, make one standard call, guy spikes it and bye. I used to blame variance for every stupid punt til I finally looked at my own tilt, ugly stuff lmao. Fifth still counts tho!!!

Nah, slots are way dumber but way more honest lol, poker’s short run feels worse because you can punt from cutoff with some cute hand, brick out, and call it variance for a month. Fifth after folding all night is whatever. How many of those “drawn out on” spots were you actually ahead by turn, not just vibing?

Short run, sure. Poker still lets you fold trash and preserve a stack, roulette can't.
