Back to Roulette

Roulette losing streaks and whether these are actually possible statistically.

so i'm mostly a blackjack guy but i hit the roulette table sometimes just for a change of pace. what gets me is how folks always talk about brutal losing streaks like losing black/red or even/odd like 10-15 times in a row. i know in blackjack you can hit nasty runs, but the odds don't stack quite the same way. i'm wondering if roulette losing streaks are just gambler stories or if they're legit possible and maybe i just haven't played enough spins to get hit by a cold streak yet.

does anyone actually track their streaks? not the casino telling you but keeping your own records. statistically i guess you’d have to expect runs like that if you hang around long enough, right? feels crazy when you see it, though. i’m not convinced unless someone’s got real numbers, not just "one time i saw reds 14 times in a row" stories.

I tracked spins for a while, yes, and the thing people fudge is zero. On a zero game your red/black “almost 50/50” story is already bent before the streak even starts, real real quick

Yesss they're legit, lol. On a single-zero wheel, 10 losses in a row on red is about 1 in 1,140-ish, so if you sit there all night roulette will absolutely smack you with that eventually
