Orphelins bet question

i honestly don’t get the hype around orphelins bets. every time someone brings it up at the table, it’s like people forget how uneven the splits are across the wheel. yeah, it covers a decent chunk, but isn’t it basically just a fancy way to throw chips on random numbers that don’t even connect? i don’t buy the whole “classic section” strategy, feels more like a marketing thing than an actual edge.

also, do people actually get better results with this over just spreading out singles or doing neighbor bets? i mean, maybe if you love chasing longshots for the payout, but it just seems like burning through bankroll to me. am i missing some deeper angle or is it really just about the fun?
