split bet payout wrong?

Made a split bet on 11/14 at a live table, expected a 17 to 1 payout if it hit. Ball lands on 11, they pay me 16 to 1 instead and the dealer just shrugs like that’s how it always is. I triple checked my scribbles at home and my spreadsheet says it should be 17 to 1 for splits, am I missing something obvious here or did my math brain get tripped up by the smoke and blinking lights?

Is there some weird house rule in some casinos where the payout gets tweaked or did the dealer just round down out of habit? Not my biggest loss but definitely felt like getting charged a convenience fee for having a brain. Wondering if anyone else ever had a split payout get shorted, or if I just look like the guy who needs a sign saying “confuse me” around my neck.

I'd definitely ask for the round history if they have one. A small payout discrepancy is exactly the kind of thing that's easier to prove with the actual bet record.

Dealer was asleep. Saw 16:1 once on bet365, glitchy mess.

"smoke and blinking lights" is why slots print money, tbh. Live dealer stuff gets boring fast.

yeah maybe, but the part that gets me is the shrug. that's the red flag, not the one unit. dealer acts fuzzy, i call floor right there every time. same energy as a book grading a bad beat ticket and hoping you just wander off to the next game lol. once chips leave the layout, good luck. roulette is already dead money compared to sports betting edges, so if i'm even thinking "was that right?" i'm done with that table... house loves passive players lmao

nah your spreadsheet wasn’t the problem lol, a straight split in roulette is 17:1, that’s the boring standard stuff, same way a street bet is 11:1. 16:1 is just wrong unless there was some goofy side arrangement and live tables usually aren’t doing cute little house-rule jazz on a basic layout bet lmao. i’ve screwed this up before by looking at the total return instead of profit, did that once half asleep after poker and felt dumb as hell, but even then this still sounds like they shorted you and hoped you’d eat it
