zero saved the dealer
so was playing euro roulette last night and the zero hit at the perfect time to save the dealer’s run. i was stacking my chips on red and black alternately, and she was sweating with all the reds landing. right when the table got heavy on black, out pops the green. took a minute for everyone to process, but you could see her relief. weird how the zero always feels like a reset button, but honestly it’s the house’s real weapon - like an emergency break glass scenario for them.
makes me think about how the whole odds structure tilts on that single pocket. people always talk about their systems but if the zero didn’t exist, would anyone really come out ahead long run? i try to focus on slot machines, but roulette just feels different with these “oops” moments that crush big streaks. not sure there’s any way to hedge against that sneaky green unless you’re splitting every spin, which feels like chasing your own tail.
