why does 17 feel like everyones favorite number

every time i'm at a roulette table, it seems like folks are always cheering for 17. not just once or twice either, it’s nonstop. i get the james bond thing is part of it, but i doubt everyone there is big on old spy movies. feels like there’s some psychological draw to it or maybe it just looks good in the middle of the board? i’ve seen people skip their own birthday numbers just to pile onto it. even when i’m just there for a promo spin or dragging friends out after slots, the bets stack up.

is there some math or superstition behind this, or do people just copy what they see other folks do? what made you pick your go-to roulette number?
