Finally stopped chasing the number that never comes

hi, put $120 through straight ups on 17 over the weekend and got stubborn when it missed again, then switched tables and did the same dumb thing, still nothing. I stopped last night but my question is how do you lot break that one number loop when your head says its due (yes I know)
