spins counted wrong

so i’m noticing this weird thing when playing certain slots, especially the ones with tons of features and side bonuses. the number of spins the counter shows just doesn’t match up with how many times i’m actually hitting the button. like sometimes the auto-spin says i’ve done ten, but i count nine, or it skips a number and calls a bonus round a “spin.” it’s not a latency thing either, and i’m not misclicking, before anyone jumps in with that.

seriously, am i the only one actually paying attention to this? people always say the counters are “for entertainment only” but if that’s true, how do we know we’re actually getting the advertised value per session? seems like something more people should care about, especially if you’re trying to track rtp or do any kind of session analysis. is this just sloppy programming or is there some technical reason for it? has anyone tracked spins manually and seen this too?
