I’m starting to prefer cluster pays over regular paylines

The last few weeks I keep opening cluster pays slots first, instead of the regular paylines ones. I know it’s still gambling either way, but seeing the board change after a hit keeps me playing more than watching 20 lines miss by one symbol.

Yesterday I put in about 100 and played a little over an hour, 40p and 60p spins. Had a couple of runs on the cluster game where one hit turned into 4 or 5 drops. Balance got up to about 168, then I gave most of it back.

With regular paylines I can get a bonus quicker, but the dead spins seem to stack up. On clusters even a small hit changes the board and gives you something to watch.

Can I ask if other people prefer cluster pays for that, even when the end result is about the same?

Mixed stakes like that mid-session, do you only go up to 60p after a win or just when the balance dips?

the extra drops make a session more engaging, i get that, but it doesn’t mean the game’s more likely to pay overall. i’d compare return and volatility, not how many hits show up on screen.

a 50p spin can still mean a long stretch with very little back (easy to lose track when the screen keeps moving). bonuses matter too, if a promo only counts on certain games that can decide which one i open, but i wouldn’t assume one format gets through the wagering faster.

I get it. A few drops off one hit gives you more to watch than a payline that misses by one symbol, so the session can seem like it’s moving along. But it doesn’t mean it pays better. You can put $100 in and stay busy watching the board change, and still end up with about the same return overall.

Bonuses don’t really change that part either. The clusters are more interesting to sit through for me, but I wouldn’t count the extra drops as the game being kinder with your balance.
