Sports betting during international breaks is rough

I always forget how rough international breaks are until they come around. This week I put in about 120 total over 5 bets, trying not to go too big, and it was worse than a normal bad run.

Thursday I had over 2.5 in a match where both teams had good numbers going in. It finished 1-0 after a red card in the 28th minute. Friday I took draw no bet, then the team news changed late and I missed it by about 15 minutes. They lost 2-1.

Yesterday I had BTTS in another one. One side had 19 shots and it still ended 1-0. Very annoying! Totals seem off too when a team pushes for 20 minutes and then both managers kill the game with changes.

Is it smarter to sit out international breaks unless you follow every squad closely? Lineups, motivation and substitutions seem a lot harder to read than in league games. thank you

dont think the whole break needs binning, just be careful when the stakes arent clear or they might rotate (even a couple changes can throw it off).

two or three out of the usual starting group and their league results dont tell you much about this one anyhow

Sitting out makes sense if the likely starters or the coach’s changes are hard to read. These teams may have had little time to get their attacking play settled, so those 19 shots or club form don’t tell you much about the total. The late team news alone can wreck draw no bet.

Five bets is still 120 at risk, even if $24 each feels modest. National teams barely get time together, so if you’re not following the squads, sitting out makes sense. League form doesn’t tell you much here.

Unless I already know the squads, I just pass. Had one where I figured the game would open up late, but both managers subbed off their forwards and the pace died. Finished a dull 1-0.

Draw no bet is the only thing that survives these breaks. Too many dull 1-0s.

Sitting out or going smaller makes sense if you can’t get a decent read on the squads. League numbers can look solid, but they don’t tell you much about a side that’s had little time together or has a different group available. International games also have all sorts of motivation around them, and that’s hard to judge from the usual form.

Confirmed lineups help, but travel still matters and managers can get cautious with their subs once they’ve got a lead. That can change the whole feel of a match, even if the numbers going in looked good. I’d be pretty selective with totals and draw no bet over these breaks.
