blackjack promo said no side bets but interface still took my side bet chips

so i jumped on this blackjack promo last night, small print said pretty clearly “no side bets count for the promo.” whatever, just wanted to run a few hands and skip the sides. but the table layout still let me put chips on the side bets, didn’t gray them out or anything. clicked by reflex, and it accepted the bet like normal. promo tracker still showed just the main hand, nothing changed for the side action.

never sure if it’s a trap or just lazy programming. i get not counting side bets for rollover, but shouldn’t the table just lock the option or at least pop up a warning? this isn’t my first run-in with these things. does the community have a read on whether those side bets are actually voided after the fact or if you just end up burning cash you can’t even apply to the bonus? would appreciate thoughts before i hassle support.
