why do some casinos bonus you for withdrawing money

so i’ve run into this a few times, usually with the more “creative” places, where you go to cash out and then they hit you with some kind of withdraw bonus. it’s usually like 5% back up to a certain amount if you decide to pull some winnings instead of letting it ride. on the surface it seems weird because you’d think they’d want to keep you playing, right? but then again, maybe there’s some psychology behind it or maybe it works out for them mathematically since most players redeposit anyway.

i’m a big bonus hunter and honestly i’m never sure if it’s worth cashing out just to grab the bonus or if it messes up your longer-term play. anyone else actually take these offers or do you just ignore them? any stories on what happened after?
