Online casino backup authentication: why is this so rare

Most sites only let you use one phone number for verification and don’t offer any backup method if you lose access. I find that kind of crazy given how common losing your phone is these days. All my other apps at least have options like backup codes or email fallback, but casino sites act like your main phone is the only thing that exists. Has anyone had their account locked up for days just because of this? I just think they could make this process way less stressful with a few calm tweaks.

Lost phone hasn’t burned me yet, but I once had my sportsbook account frozen just for updating my email. All I got was “wait for verification” with zero help from support. Sports betting has enough risk on the field, don’t need that off the field too. Ever seen a casino actually notify you before a security policy change, instead of just after?

locked out for two days last month on a crypto casino because my phone died and they only had sms as recovery. discipline with account access is just as key as bankroll allocation, but these sites absolutely should add backup codes or at least email failsafes. even betonline feels old school about this. until they catch up, i keep a printed backup of every login stashed with my cards - painful, but better than sweating out a locked balance.
