best poker for players with absolutely zero bankroll

Wondering how folks here got started in poker without dropping any cash at all. I’ve been deep in roulette for years, always chasing edges in the shadow of variance, but poker feels like a different beast entirely when there’s zero money on hand. Are freerolls actually worth the effort, or is it a lot of sitting around waiting for a payday that never comes?

I keep hearing about app-based play money games that supposedly lead to something more, but it sounds like grinding for peanuts with a hundred click-happy folks shoving every hand. Is there a better way for someone with nothing to their name but stubbornness and wifi? Curious if anyone here clawed up from rock bottom and what path gave you the most sweat equity for your time.

Yeah, freerolls are worth it for one thing only: teaching you to stop treating poker like Roulette with extra chairs. I wasted months punting preflop because “it’s free anyway,” which is basically setting your own shoes on fire for warmth. Play money is mostly useless. Nobody plays to showdown like a human with rent due. Freerolls are a zoo too, but at least the end of the tunnel has an ACTUAL nickel in it. My blunt take: if you’ve got zero bankroll, your sweat equity is learning to fold while the click-happy maniacs self-destruct. Boring skill, ugly results, real progress. That’s the part nobody wants, and it’s the part that works.
