does playing poker sober actually make you more money

always heard ppl say you play smarter poker if you stay totally sober, but honestly i'm not sure. i know for blackjack or roulette you want your head clear, but poker’s so social, and sometimes i feel a beer or two actually helps keep the nerves down and makes you a bit harder to read. not talking about going overboard, just like… smoother vibe, and you don’t get wound up after a bad beat as much.

most of my live sessions are in the smaller stakes rooms and i see a lot of regs nursing drinks, but also a few who stick to water and always seem serious. thing is, i can't tell who’s winning more long-term, and my own results are all over the place. wondering if anyone’s tracked their sessions on this, like is it really worth making a rule about it, or just keep it flexible based on how you feel that night.

Nah, beer two is where bet sizing gets dumb fast, i tracked 40 live sessions, down 18bb/100 after 2 drinks. Promos just make guys chase more, OBVIOUSLY

Tbh in poker one beer just made me call draws I fold sober. You ever check your bet sizing after beer two, or just total result?

Beer doesn’t fix tilt, it just makes your raises sloppier. On slots, would you trust your timing after two beers?
