do you play differently after losing a big hand?

so i do, and pretending you don't is just ego

after i lose a big pot i am not in the same headspace
doesn't matter if i got it in good or got rivered

my next few spots are different
i pass on thin calls
i don't pull the trigger as light
and if i force myself to play the same, that is where the dumb punt comes from

people call it tilt like it only means spewing
for me it's also overcorrecting and going too tight

posted because i caught myself doing it again tonight and it changes my whole session

Playing too tight after a big loss is tilt too. I catch myself passing calls I’d usually make because I don’t want to take another hit, and then I’m not judging the hand properly anymore. It can look like being careful, but really I’m just trying to protect the money I already lost. If the spot was worth a call before, the loss doesn’t change the cards or the pot odds.

I still find myself sitting out good spots for a while after a big one goes wrong.
