I keep folding and then seeing I would’ve won 😭 how do you stop that

Every time I fold a marginal hand and the board runs out perfect for it, I swear I feel it in my left pocket - like all the backup coins jangling for no reason. It’s nuts how often I end up watching my trash turn into gold after bowing out early. Been playing mostly 6-max NLHE lately, and yeah, it messes with my head.

I know, supposed to trust the math and play the odds, but man, seeing those cards hit never gets easier. I used to chase gutshots just because I hated that feeling, but it was rough on the bankroll. Trying to stay disciplined, but the memory of those folds keeps haunting me. Would be interesting to hear how others manage the urge to chase or keep the FOMO in check.

i focus on protecting my mental bankroll, not just my chips, because chasing that one miracle runout messes with your confidence for way longer than any one lost pot. weird how no bonus ever feels as sweet as a single haunting board when it hits, right?

leaning on stats helped me, so i started jotting down every time my folded hand would've actually lost instead of won (spoiler, the losses way outnumbered the gold). think of it like late surrender in blackjack, where the quiet folds are secretly stacking your edge.

fold regret is just poker’s version of slow withdrawals in online casinos, dragging out what could have been. discipline is a stack that grows quietly over time, so do you track how often your ‘trash’ would’ve actually lost too?
