Column vs dozen?

Whenever I sit at the roulette table, my brain goes into meltdown trying to choose between betting on a column or a dozen. I know mathematically they're pretty much the same thing - payouts are equal and both cover twelve numbers, but my overactive spreadsheet brain still can't let it go. Maybe it's the different layout on the table or the weird superstition that the middle column is cursed, who knows.

I'm also trying not to be the guy who sabotages himself by overthinking it. Last time I tried to use my "sophisticated" method of alternating columns and dozens, I spent more time second-guessing than actually betting. I don't have enough memory cells left to track patterns and manage my own spreadsheet at the table, so I'm curious - does anyone here have a real reason to pick one over the other, or is it all just vibes and weird hunches? Has anyone actually tracked results to see if it matters, or am I just feeding my ego more fuel to flame out on?
