anyone ever successfully explained slot odds to someone addicted?

most slot players i know never want to hear about odds, especially if they're in too deep already. like i tried walking a buddy through rtp and variance, even showed him actual session results, still thinks machines are due to hit after a bad streak. feels pointless to talk paytables with someone who's convinced the next spin makes up for the last fifty.

do you think it's even possible to get through to someone once they've crossed that line? or is it always just denial no matter how you break down the numbers? trying to be helpful but it's like trying to teach my cat chess. anyone ever actually managed to get the math across and have it stick?
