wild multiplier missing

Was spinning on a slot last night, kinda zoning out between rounds, and I got what looked like a huge hit lined up - wild symbol dropped on the middle reel with a multiplier banner, but the actual multiplier number was just straight-up gone. No x2, no x5, nothing. It still triggered a win, but the payout looked way lower than usual for that combo. I kept hoping it was a glitch that would fix itself on the next spin, but it just went back to normal after that one.

Has anyone else seen this? Not sure if it was a weird visual bug or if maybe the multiplier only shows up during bonuses and I missed some rule buried in the info panel. Doesn't help that I never actually read the slot details, I just look for flashy features and get spinning. Should I reach out to support or is this something slots players run into pretty often?
