Bonus buys, smart shortcut or the fastest way to burn a balance?

i'm not buying the line that bonus buys are some smart shortcut. i tried a few on one slot because people kept saying it cuts out the dead spins and gets you straight to the value, but that's only true if the bonus is worth a damn in the first place.

i bought 4 in a row at £80 each and got back nowhere near it, one of them paid so low it may as well have been a dead spin anyway. that's what annoys me about it. people talk like you're paying for certainty, but you're not, you're just prepaying a volatile part of the game and getting charged extra for it...

is there any real edge to bonus buys at all, or is it just the fastest way to torch a balance while pretending you're being efficient

no edge. buy rtp is the same or worse, you're just paying the volatility upfront.

if the buy rtp is the same or lower, £80 upfront doesn’t improve the return. even a 1-point drop costs 80p in expected value each time.

Where's the 1 point drop from?

No edge, sure, but a 100% match changes the math. Nobody's buying these without a promo stacked.

Only worth it when the buy cost is under 100x and the bonus has a decent max win. Otherwise you're just paying extra for the same spins.

Under 100x is the only time I bother, and even then half the bonuses pay shit.

Four at £80 each? That's on you, not the feature.
