do higher bets actually increase your chances or just bigger losses

I'm more of a blackjack guy but lately been trying some slots here and there and I'm wondering if betting higher actually affects your odds of hitting a big win or if it just burns your bankroll faster. Some folks at the casino swear by bigger bets unlocking bonuses or something, but I haven't really seen much proof. I get that jackpots pay more if you bet more, but do your chances get better at all or is it just more money down the drain per spin
