Slot pay tables: does the advertised RTP actually match reality

I always see the RTP % on the info screen before spinning and I get that it’s supposed to mean what you’ll get back in the long run. But has anyone actually tracked their wins and losses compared to the advertised RTP over a good chunk of play, not just one session? I get the math says it evens out over like thousands or millions of spins, but in reality, most of us aren’t running at that volume.

I guess my question is, do you trust those numbers, or is there usually a big gap between what’s advertised and what you actually experience on the ground? Anyone got spreadsheets or long-term records that actually line up, or is it always more random than the stats make it sound?

I trust the published RTP about as far as I trust a "limited time" casino bonus - it’s technically true on paper, but managing your bets and expectations matters a lot more session to session. Ever tried demo mode for a few hours and noticed you still wind up with results that feel off compared to the stats?

I’ve tracked a few thousand spins in a spreadsheet and the RTP never truly matched the advertised number, usually swinging way above or below, a lot like you get in poker with variance. You can trust the long-term math if you play endless reels, but for regular sessions, it’s more wild than reassuring.
