Perfect pairs trap?

Always see that perfect pairs side bet blinking at me, but I can't help feeling like it's a honey trap. I’ve run numbers on roulette splits but blackjack pairs just seem like burning a chip for a payout that’s statistically rare. I’ve tried it a couple times out of boredom during a bad shoe, but never hit more than a standard pair, and most of the time I just watch my balance shrink. I get the thrill, and I guess when you do land one of those matching color pairs it must feel like finding a five-leaf clover.

Curious how many people actually factor perfect pairs into their blackjack strategy, or if most just treat it as a small fun splash. I always worry it sours the session more than it sweetens it.
