Why does 16 against a dealer 10 always feel personal
Nothing gets my blood pressure up like sitting there with a 16 facing off against the dealer’s 10. Even when you know the charts backwards and forwards, it still feels like some twisted little test designed just for you. I swear sometimes I half-expect the pit boss to pop out and say, “You sure about that move?” No hand seems to make people grumble at the table like this one. It’s always this push-pull - knowing the right play is to hit, but every instinct just screams to stay and hope the dealer busts.
I mean, logically, it’s just math. Sixteen is garbage either way. But it never feels like just numbers in the moment. It feels almost like a dare, like the game’s poking at you to mess it up. How do you guys handle those moments? Anyone got tricks for sticking to the right play when everything in your bones wants to do the opposite?
