Satellite payout weird?

so i played a satellite last night for the 300 seat and something felt off with the payout structure. top 5 got the seat but then 6th and 7th got cash, not even close to the seat buy-in just some weird consolation. i thought usually it's winner-take-all or you bubble the seat, maybe 1 extra spot gets some love if the payout doesn't divide clean but this looked strange. they showed the structure at the start but i barely glanced, figured it was standard.

anybody seen this kind of thing before? like is this just a site tweaking for rake or do some satellites pay out like this as a normal thing? just kind of threw me when 6th got like 40 bucks, almost worse than bubbling.

Yeah, that’s normal enough, just ugly. Some rooms hate leaving dead dollars in the prize pool, so they toss crumbs to 6th/7th instead of making the last seat convert cleaner. It’s not some grand scam, it’s admin math plus rake making everything look dumber than it should. I’ve seen a $215 sat pay 4 seats and $62 to 5th because they had $922 after fees. Same vibe as Roulette promos that hand you “bonus value” instead of cash: technically real, practically wallpaper. I’d just treat that little cash as optionality and move on.

Nah but $40 for 6th is soooo grim lol, i'd rather just brick a slots spin than that
