futures payout lower

Noticed this past week the odds on some of my favorite futures are way lower than they’ve been the last two seasons. For example,

  1. Division winner props dropped about 20% compared to opening lines last year.

  2. Longshot MVP plays aren’t anywhere close to as juicy, even pre-draft.

  3. Team win total overs have barely any plus money unless you go for the true outliers.

I get that books adjust to risk and market size, but it seems like they’re chopping edges harder or pulling lines down earlier than usual. I barely even see the promos on these anymore, while casino side stuff seems more aggressive than ever. Curious what angles others look for when standard futures just aren’t worth it.

Following Bitcoin for a long time teaches you that short-term noise can feel extremely important in the moment but often looks much smaller when viewed from a longer perspective.

Yeah I think you're right, and the part that gets me is how early they yank the decent numbers now. Used to be you had a little air, now if you don't hit it basically when it posts you're staring at a worse price by lunch. That's why I've mostly stopped bothering with futures and just play season over/under stuff if I see a number I actually like. Same reason I walk from bad blackjack rules, once they're shaving it that tight, fine, keep it then

What’s the plan, really, pretending they got smarter. Same squeeze I’ve seen in Blackjack side bets for years: lower payout, same appetite. House just trims earlier now.
