Satellite rebuy count?

So I signed up for a satellite with a single rebuy, thinking that was my shot if things went sideways. But then a buddy said some satellites let you rebuy more than once - sometimes like, as many as you want till a certain level closes? Kinda defeats the point of “one last chance” for me but maybe I’m just not getting it. Are these rules different depending on online vs live, or is it totally up to the house?

Also, how do you all handle your rebuy strategy in these? I usually go with vibes over hard math and try not to chase, but sometimes it’s just too tempting. Curious what your approach is?
